Edasich's Work
I would like to share some (real) exoplanetary systems I have made with Celestia, both popular both recently discovered. Most are Hot SuperEarth planets.
Nevermind about names featuring on the top; those are referred as tentative planetary names for a science fiction of my own.
I'd like to share, maybe I could think about something at Celestia Motherlode in the future. Perhaps.
Here for you:
1) - Corot-exo-7 b (actually I would own a Celestia addon with a 3-planets system)

2) - My version of Iota Horologii b (NuclearVacuum, have some fun!)

3) - Gliese 876 d, the nearby Hot Earth

4) - HD 89744 A system. Note: the red-glowing objects at planet's left are the brown dwarf pair in wide orbit around HD 89744 A.

5) - 14 Herculis b and an hypotetical Earth-mass (glacial) moon, with ammonia and oxygen-rich atmosphere too. Note: Zeus refers to the gas giant, not the moon.

6) - 23 Librae b ,with an arid satellite, neither Earth-like nor Venus-like. Just halfway, but not so much habitable at all.

7) - 70 Virginis b, like Whathmough's version

8 ) - And to finish, my username star, Edasich, Iota Draconis with planet transiting.

I love them!
But what do you mean by "have some fun!"?

I have used both standard Solar System textures both some "free-use" rock surface textures I've found in the web (especially for rocky planets). Then so much PaintShop.
Plus I've found an interesting tutorial about making gas giants at DeviantArt (maybe also suggested in previous EV Forum):
http://dreamingsky.deviantart.com/art/Cooking-with-Gas-9776794
It works well also with PaintShop (and it's maybe easier than PhotoShop)
I love them!
But what do you mean by "have some fun!"?
Since you have already done a reconstruction of Iota Horologii of your own, I meant to show you mine

Re: Edasich's Work
Did you make the 70 Vir b texture using that tutorial? And what about pole pinching? Have you addressed the issue with those textures?

Oh...Sorry, I didn't understand it when I read it.
No problem

Nope. I've just come up with this texture blending jupiter and neptune's ones with PaintShop. Playing with hue/saturation and other effects, there's a lot of "serendipitous" textures available.
For example GJ 876 d is based mostly on Mercury's one, with few changes.

That's funny. I do the same thing.

Re: Edasich's Work
Some more stuff:
9) - 109 Pisces b and a frozen (but habitable enough) moon

10) - Very low mass (and young) brown dwarf AB Pictoris B

11) - Alioth (Epsilon Ursae Majoris) *notice the brown dot at star's right* ....

...and it's extremely hot substellar (planetary?) companion B, with glowing red nightside

12) - The close eclipsing binary CM Draconis from a putative Earth-sized planet (the planet is in front of star B here)

13) - Chthonian planet HD 219828 b

14) - Tau1 Gruis b, water jovian

15) - And to finish a couple of exotic systems: the rogue planet S Ori 70 (though classed as T6 dwarf at SIMBAD)

16) The pulsar SWIFT J1756.9-2508 ...

....and its eerie planet-mass (and planet-sized) companion.

I can't come up with a single answer for how much I am enjoying these pic.
... wait! Distanza, raggia, diametro apparente? You're from Italy?

Yeah he is, even I knew that.
Edasich, the planets in your images appear extremely oblate on my screen. Do they appear normal on yours?
I wonder if SWIFT J1756.9-2508 b is tidally distorted.

Probably because they are all re-sized. Original size was much bigger for a forum topic
About SWIFT, yes it should, with such a shrunk radius (nearly 7 Earth radii for a 7 Jupiter mass object...).

Re: Edasich's Work
I've kept pictures in original size, hoping they're not still distorted (and hoping they don't encumber the thread too much...)
17) - 94 Ceti b and moon. A real "hot-ocean" world, alike Dollan's BathyPelagic planets in ArcBuilders Universe.

18) - HD 37605 b, eccentric hot jupiter.

19) - HD 80606 b, the most eccentric (transiting) exoplanet ever detected. Yes, the bright star at planet's right is HD 80607, 1500 AUs far away from exoplanet host.

20) - 2M 1207 B, young super-jovian in TW Hya Association.

21) - HD 29587 B, brown dwarf with Earth-sized and highly active moon. Notice the fiery rifts glowing in the darkness. It resembles this artist's rendering

22) - And finally a curious system I have found: 2M 1237+6526 and unseen VLMO (i.e very low mass object).

According to Binarity in Brown Dwarfs: T Dwarf Binaries Discovered with the Hubble Space Telescope Wide Field Planetary Camera 2, the primary is a nearby late T-type brown dwarf (namely 2MASS J12373919+6526148) that shows interesting variations. If not due to activity or youth, these would hint the presence of a massive jovian planet (minimum mass between 3-12 Jupiter masses) in very tight orbit (<0.003 AUs!).
Gosh!

Re: Edasich's Work
Very nicely done edasich. I like how you do these hot earths, aka 94 ceti, gliese 876 and hd 29587 planets and moons....and the frozen planet is nice as well. What'd you use to get the texture for hd 29587's moon? The surface looks nice, however are you sure the clouds on such a moon would be white? I mean it is covered in volcanism so you'd think they'd be more along the lines of the color of ash no?
Also thanks for the cooking with gas tutorial. I found a way to.....sort of get it to work with the gimp and the results aren't bad. Not as good as with photoshop but meh.
