Planet Table

Post by Sirius_Alpha on Fri Jun 06, 2008 4:39 pm

Further experimentation has shown that I can create HTML pages with links on the forum main page. As this website is devoted to extrasolar planets, I'll make a planet table. I'll also include the Sol system planets for completeness, and if Edasich is willing, his Unconfirmed/Unpublished Catalogue. I'm not suggesting discontinuing that thread, but an organised table would be nice.

This might take me some time. There's a lot of known planets, just over 300, so please be patient.

If anyone has any ideas, feel free to let me know.

I'm having a bunch of problems with that, for example, there's a length limit to HTML code. Quite annoying. I'm giving thought to making a thread for it instead, though that wouldn't be as convenient.

That took 20 minutes... as opposed to the several weeks I thought it would. Excell is so useful, and apparently for HTML too.
You can get to the planet table by clicking the aptly named "Planet Table" link in the top row of links (the one with Home, FAQ, Search, et cetera). The Planet Table link is just before Log in / Log out.

I doubt this can work in the long run, considering the list will certainly expand as more planets are found, and also there's an HTML length limit. I may just post images as opposed to code, images of a table. Hmm, that sounds really lame, but it might be needed.
So... any suggestions?

In fact, what I wrote is almost too big. So, bye bye table. I'll link Planet Table to the Extrasolar Planets Encyclopaedia instead.
