Atmospheric refraction vs. characterisation

Betremieux and Kaltenegger, "Impact of atmospheric refraction: How deeply can we probe exo-Earth's atmospheres during primary eclipse observations?"

Yet another effect to be considered when modelling exoplanetary atmospheres. Probing to ground level may be impossible due to atmospheric refraction, and refraction may also be responsible for flat transmission spectra in certain cases.
