A story to be remembered

Post by planetaryscience on 9th May 2013, 10:13 pm

ok so imagine that the exoplanet Gliese 163 c was inhabited by an odd species of alien. We are beginning to see odd things happen such as small disruptions in the cosmic radio background. Suddenly a ship of gigantic size lands near Kansas City, Kansas, and unloads 1000 of these such aliens.
Your job is to create a story following what I wrote. You can say 1 sentence, and we can see where it goes.
Maybe you could add what happens-
1. will the aliens try to take over the earth?
2. will they come in peace?
3. how will we react?
4. what will happen in the future?

(rules: you cannot kill an important character or destroy something important, and the sentence must make sense wit the previous.)
ill go first:
The alien that commands the ship walks (they are octopi that have developed a hard exoskeleton) down the hatch and raises one of his long limbs.

we have no clue about the culture of an alien civilization and their motivations; we don't know how their brains operate, neither the circumstances of the planets where they evolved. Since even among different human populations there are large cultural differences, it's wrong to believe at priori that aliens will think in terms familiar or logic to us.

After this premise, one can only try to make educated guesses; in my opinion, since evolution is likely to be darwinian almost everywhere, I will discount angel-like aliens coming here to help or enlighten us. I don't think either that there are so many alien civilizations ready to undertake the logistic feat of bringing here an invasion fleet to exterminate everyone. After all, space is full of not inhabited planets with more resources than Earth.
Maybe they will simply study us from afar like we study the animals in the African savana; maybe they are in an upper stage of evolution and exclude having contact with us the same way we don't think to have an official contact with ants (which have a basic civilization on their own).

Our level of not-knowledge in this subject leave large room for fantasy, within the limitations of physical laws. You can complete the story by your own. If you want ask for advice or suggestions on plausibility scenario you're welcome, but since this isn't a sci-fi writer forum, you're not going to receive a fantasy help from the users here.
