Second planet at HD 37605

Post by Lazarus on 19th January 2012, 2:57 pm

Extrasolar Planets Encyclopaedia has updated to include a second planet in the HD 37605 system. Interestingly the reference is to a conference abstract about the TERMS project which is dedicated to refining transit ephemerides for known radial velocity planets. I guess this one turned up during the attempt to refine the orbital parameters of the innermost planet.

Here's a paper for the second planet.

Some interesting discussion about the possible confusion between long-period Jupiter analogues and stellar activity cycles (HD 154345b I'm looking at you!)

I'm really curious as to how a system can manage to form both highly eccentric planets in the inner system and near-circular Jupiter analogues.
